Finch Collage and a Scarlet Tanager

At forty-two years of age, I finally saw my first scarlet tanager over the weekend.  What a beautiful and amazing bird!  Not being an ornithologist, it was quite the treat!  I may have just found a new hobby!

In honor of my sighting, I put together a simple card made from kraft paper and lightly colored with pencils.  For my image, I chose Our Daily Bread Designs' Finch Collage

Isn't it darling?  I fussy cut a couple of the images again and added them with dimensional foam....  the finch, stamp and branch...  I thought it made the image pop!  Don't forget to stop back by Wednesday to see the new releases from Our Daily Bread Designs!  They are amazing!  :-)

Blessings....

SC432 ~ The Rose ~

Sometimes, I'm just late to the party.  And today...  is NO exception!  I found a super sketch on SplitCoast last week...  (ok, they are ALL super) but failed to get the final product posted until today.  So please forgive me for my lapse.  I used some new papers new for me, Bo Bunny's Prairie Chic, along with an April release from North Coast Creations .

I stamped the image with Memento ink (Angel Pink) on cream card stock and then added my sentiment with Memento Toffee Crunch.  I selected Spellbinders' Decorative Labels Eight to frame the sentiment and added a few tiny adhesive pearls.  The sketch included the banner under the sentiment panel and I added the sprigs of die cut greenery (Cheery Lynn Designs) and the pearl flourishes.  A tiny mulberry rose adorns the side for interest.  The basic sketch was pretty Clean and Simple.  As you can see, I managed to layer it up!!!  lol  Thanks for looking!

Blessings...

Flowers Appear

Today's card is for the Featured Stamper challenge at SplitCoast.  I opted to use a new Spellbinder Custom die from Our Daily Bread Designs on my center panel.

The design is one done by Robin, this week's featured stamper.  I chose to use bright colors and patterns to showcase the white die cut and a mixture of soft mulberry roses.  The scripture, from Morning Glory , was stamped in the corner with black ink.  I just love this die and stamp set.  Here's the images...

Word Art Wednesday ~ Philemon 1:4

Happy Wednesday!  It's time for another fabulous digital image and challenge from Word Art Wednesday .  What a blessing to be able to create using God's holy word.  Today we are reminded of the importance of thanksgiving.  What a wonderful scripture to remind us of His provisions for us and the importance of prayer.

Here's my card using Cricut die cuts (card base & heart) and Spellbinders.

I used coordinating DP by Teresa Collins along with black and kraft colored card stock.  A bit of black lace and rhinestone flourish add texture.  I also used a paper crimper to added a dimension to the kraft heart.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to visit Word Art Wednesday for the digital image and linky.  We want to see what you come up with!  Blessings....

North Coast Stamps April Release

Have you checked out North Coast Creations, the sister company of Our Daily Bread Designs yet? If you are into super cute critters and vintage stamps, NCC is the place to be. We are very excited to share with you a new release today! The Design Team members (also affectionately known as "The Coasters")  have created some beautiful cards!  For complete deets and all links please visit North Coast Creation's Blog .

Here's my card featuring the new image, Roses....

and here's a copy of the stamp set...  isn't it just FABULOUS???  I love all the vintage/country possibilities this beauty gives me!!!

For my card I used a dark red card stock base.  I layered coordinating DP on a white base.  I wanted my base to resemble a patchwork quilt, so I cut everything at angles and gently glued them together on my base.  I then trimmed everything down to fit.  I distressed all edges and added a bit of ink around the edges for interest.  The focal image is colored with Copics and framed with a Spellbinder die.  A few buttons from my stash finish off the primitive feel of this one.  Kinda reminds me of a beautiful old quilt stored in the attic.

Don't forget to leave the team some love on their blogs by 9:00 PM April 17th 2013.  You just might win a set yourself!  ;-)

Thanks as always for stopping by!  Blessings!!!

Poppies for Queen Bonnie

Good afternoon and thanks so much for stopping by!  Today, I would like to share a card I created to honor a dear stamper over at SplitCoast, Bonnie.  Her online gallery is a veritable smorgasbord of blossoms whether stamped, paper or both.  I decided in the spirit of her fondness for posies to create something using one of my favorite flowers, the poppy.

We usually see them here in Kentucky around May.  They are a richly elegant flower, bringing to mind the sacrifice of so many veterans on foreign shores.  Memorial Day weekend our local VFW troop often hands them out for a small donation at local retailers.  They remind me of my father, who served in Korea, Uncles who served in WWII and great uncles who served in WWI.  I think of my forefather who stepped on these shores from his homeland of Ireland to serve in the Revolutionary War and receive as his reward, a land grant in the unknown wilds of Kentucky.  I am reminded of another forefather who served during the Civil War.  And I think of the young man, Franklin Sousley, who is buried not very far from my father in a tiny cemetery in Elizaville, Kentucky.  Who was he, you ask?  He was one of the young men famously photographed raising the American flag on Iwo Jima.  Franklin was killed just a few short days later, never to have a family of his own.  Patriotism runs deep in these parts.  And in this world our faith must run deep as well.  There is so much darkness in this old world.  Pray for our country, our world, our leaders, our military.  God bless them and God bless America!

WAW75 ~ Jeremiah 15:16 ~

Welcome to another fabulous week at Word Art Wednesday.  I am blessed to bring you cards showcasing the word of God.  To find this week's digital scripture and to play along please check out the link above.  Our fabulous sponsor this week is Verses Rubber Stamps.

Here is my creation for the week...

I chose a couple of similar style designer papers and accented the edges with paper punched circles, trimmed down to fit.  A bit of lace peeks out from behind the focal panel.  I added a Prima blossom with a few yellow blooms for interest.  A pearl flourish and paper punches twigs and leaves fill out the spray.  Isn't this a lovely scripture panel?

Don't forget to hope over to Word Art Wednesday and play along!  Until next time...

Blessings...

MOJO287 ~ Letting Go and Letting God

And boy do I EVER need to hear that message today...  Seems as of late, my sin nature has fooled me in to thinking I could handle it all...  Uh no!!!  Not even close...  This quote is a perfect reminder of just how to get beyond the things that bind us...

The quote is from Our Daily Bread Designs' Quote Collection 3 .  And the yummy border may be found in ODBD's April release, Romantic Floral Designs.  It coordinates perfectly with Spellbinders Labels Twenty Six.  I love it when dies make it easy.  And can you see Our Daily Bread Designs' Spellbinders die release this month, Quatrefoil Designs Dies?   I nestled three behind the sentiment panel.  Here it is!

And everything I used...

And thanks to the ever sweet Sabrina for sending me some extra special goodies for my birthday.  I couldn't wait to get some of them out and play!  Waving at ya girl!!!

Until next time...

Word Art Wednesday ~ Psalm 91:11

Welcome!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  If you are new to my blog...  I hope you spend a few moments and find something uplifting!  I am excited to be joining the Wednesday Word Art
team.

Thank you to Karen and company for asking me to spend a little bit of time with you.  The challenges at WAW have been such a blessing to me over the last year just as I know they have been for you.  Today I have a fabulous image to share featuring Psalm 91:11.  As always the images are drawn from God's Holy Word.

You are welcome to save this week's free scripture/word art file to your computer, but are not required to use it in order to play along in the challenge. We welcome you share your art with us; remembering that Anything Goes as long as it's family-freindly, and uses an encouraging or uplifting sentiment. You can also link more than one project each week (up to 5). The more, the merrier. We just hope that God's Word will be a blessing and encouragement to you each week. If you have any questions about the rules, be sure to read the complete list of rules under Word Art Wednesday's  page tab for "Challenge Rules".  Go to this page also to link your work!  We want to see it!

This week's feature sponsor....  Lisa's Altered Art/Eureka Stamps (5 images)

Now on to my card...

I chose alternating layers of white and purple card stock for my base.  I used a Spellbinder die to cut the lattice layer and added the sentiment with tiny adhesive pearls at the corner.  The lattice required some greenery so I added a die cut flourish and some flowers from my stash.  Definitely a spring feel...

Thanks for stopping by...

Until next time...  Blessings....

So now... on to my projects, the first featuring the new set, Morning Glory

shown here...

For this one I stamped the image on Copic friendly paper and colored the image.  I used Spellbinders' Labels Twenty Six to cut and emboss the image.  I cut a larger layer in pink card stock to frame the image.  The matted panel was placed upon an embossed white panel with a slight edging of pink on top of the white card stock base.  Sprigs of die cut greenery frame the image with bits of paper punched flowers.  For a bit of whimsy, I stamped the bee from this set on card stock, fussy cut it and applied it with dimensional foam.  For a final touch, I added a bit of glitter glue to his wings.

And here's another card also featuring Morning Glory and a fabulous new die for ODBD by Spellbinders, Quatrefoil Label

pictured below...

I used a yellow patterned DP as the base layer for both the embossed panel and the Quatrefoil die cut.  The sentiment, from Morning Glory was nestled on Spellbinders' Fancy Tags die.  A few pearls and die cut greenery add a bit of charm to the embossing background.  For interest, I added a few pearls on the new die and a yellow rose with spray.

As always, thanks for stopping by!
From here, you'll hop to the fabulous Audrey's blog
