~ We Miss You ~

Good morning!  Today, I have a card in honor of a member of our active military serving overseas.  It is so difficult for those who wait at home for their loved one to return.  It is just as hard for the person serving.  I would imagine it is a terrible feeling when you must miss important things like birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.  Some servicemen even miss the birth of their children!  Many men and women are forced to leave their children behind when they ship out.  It is that type of devotion and service to country that demands our continued prayers for them.  For without their sacrifice, we wouldn't be free.  I wanted to create something that would tell this person how much his family misses him and how blessed they feel to be serving at home.

I used the individual Alphabet stamps to create my word "bless" and added them to the bottom layer created with the banner stamp from the Patriotic Pennants stamp set.  I used the Patriotic Pennants set to stamp the stars and striped banner and the coordinating die shown below to cut them and the yellow ribbon.  I hope they enjoy sending it as much as I did creating it!

Power Poppy ~ Geraniums ~

This is the first year in a very long time that I have flowers.  Let me clarify...  I have honest to goodness annuals this year...  My perennials have been perking right along the entire time!  :-)  Certain health issues have prevented me from enjoying lovely blossoms outside my home.  This year I have real geraniums...  not artificial ones stuck in a basket to make me feel better about myself...  lol...

**Anyone else here know what I'm talking about?**

So when I saw this digi from Power Poppy I took the leap.  I haven't had a great deal of success in the past coloring digis, even after all of the cajoling, standing on one head and holding aluminum foil in one hand...  Ok...  Maybe I am confusing coloring digis with the TV antennae of yesteryear...  :-)
I am happy to report that this time, my results were much more favorable.  I printed my image on Copic compatible paper (Gina K. Designs to be exact) and sprayed the image with Krylon Matte Finish.  I let it cure for a few days and went to work.  The texture was a tad bit more "rough" but it colored nicely and did not bleed...  WHEW!  All in all, I am pretty tickled with it...  What do you think?

Here's the 411...

~ Imagine ~

Hello and welcome to another work week!  That rolled around entirely TOO fast, didn't it???  Today I have a recycling charmer to share.  I decided to pull out some cardboard and incorporate it into my project.  A little shabby, office chic...  in honor of the first day back...

I started with a dark chocolate brown card base and added a leaf green mat.  I then cut a piece of cardboard (straight from an old box) and peeled the top layer off.  I wanted to reveal some of that cool corrugated texture inside...  I stamped my sentiment (the new Our Daily Bread Designs' set, Pennant Row in chocolate on white card stock and used the coordinating Pennant Row Die to cut it out and add a dark brown scalloped mat.  I used the Asters and Leaves Die to create my sunflower.  I cut two layers of petals in gold, glued them together and pooled a large center of Glossy Accents adhesive.  I then sprinkled brown flocking powder on to create the "seeds."  And because I can only imagine what that day will be like as Mercy Me so beautifully sings...  I added an amazing die cut cross using Ornamental Crosses Die.  I get chills thinking about it...

Here are just a few of the items you see here today...

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Don't forget to stop back Thursday for our monthly look back at Our Daily Bread Designs' release.

Blessings...

~ Proud to Be an American ~

Good morning and thanks so much for stopping by!  Today, I have a simple card to share with three of my favorite colors...  red, white and blue!  You may think I am a bit late showing this card on July 5th.  However, I beg to differ!  If you saw my home, you would know how much I love to decorate with those three colors.  From bedding to outdoor bunting, you will see these colors in my home year round.  I share this love of country with many people.  I find in my travels that Americans are very proud of their country.  In my opinion, it is a shame that we feel we must limit displays of that love to one or two times a year!  I say shout it from the rooftops ALL YEAR long!  So with that in mind, here is a fun card using a few of Our Daily Bread Designs latest releases.

and an oldie but a goodie...

G534 - HEART & SOUL

and coordinating die

CSBD53 - ORNATE HEARTS DIES

I used navy card stock for my base and added a white card stock mat.  The final embossed layer (red card stock) showcases my stamped heart.  I inked the top with dark blue ink, carefully using scotch tape to cover the line.  I then removed the tape and inked the bottom with red.  Once I loaded the stamp with ink, I lightly huffed on the entire stamp to warm the ink and stamped the image on white card stock.  I used the coordinating die to cut out.  I stamped the letters (U, S & A) in alternating colors as shown and used the Pennants die to cut them out.  I added all three with baker's twine and voila!  Very easy!

Hope you and yours had a wonderful 4th of July!  God Bless my friend and God Bless America!

This week we are visiting scripture from the book of Psalms...

I started with a Kraft card stock base and added white matting.  My focal layer is a brick colored card stock, embossed and aged with white and tea stain colored inks.  I added a die cut vine and white die cut flowers to mimic lovely wild flowers growing up a wall.  A few black micro beads finish the centers.  I printed out digi scripture on white card stock and lightly colored the words with my blending pen and red chalk.  I love the feel of this one!  The shabby style is so forgiving!  :-)  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Until next time...

Blessings...

I know you can't wait to see all of the other beautiful creations, so let's hop right into my projects this month...

Today's card features a couple of new items this month including the Pennant Row (Believe banner) stamp set and coordinating Pennant Row Die shown below.  What makes this so fun?  The stamps are aligned for you.  So I just added the word believe to my block, stamped the pennant in brown ink and used the coordinating die to cut it.  I added a few bits of baker's twine at each end...
Aren't these just divine???

and a few other ODBD dies including...

(hollowed out heart and pale pink border on top)

(the fabulous flower you see)

and the ODBD's yummy Blushing Rose Collection...
(2 sheets - a smaller rose print revealed by the heart die and the fence panel on top...)

And now for my second card in honor of July 4th and a special member of my family who served...

This shabby creation features the new Patriotic Pennants (Sentiment) and Pennant Alphabet (USA banner) stamp sets along with the new Pennants Die (Flag sentiment & Flag Pole) and Pennants Row Die (USA swag).

CSBD25 - PENNANT ALPHABET SOLID (CLEAR STAMPS)

GCS28 - PATRIOTIC PENNANTS (CLEAR STAMPS)

I also used the following ODBD products above...

card background stamped on white card stock & mounted
on navy mat with Kraft card base

distressed card board panel

poppies with black micro bead centers

vines & brown branches
