ODBD ~ Wishing You Were Here ~

A beach would be fabulous right now.  I can almost feel the sand between my toes!  Or maybe that is the dry, cracked winter skin I have right now....  :-(
So in the meantime, I can take solace in creating cards with a summer  feel.  Here's one using a few of Our Daily Bread Designs' January release items...

I started with a white card stock base and a sunny yellow mat.  I used ODBD's Sunburst Background Die to cut, emboss and color my background.  Two complimentary shades of yellow, lightly sponged on the die before removing, created the lovely sun and rays.  I used ODBD's Leafy Edged Borders Die and a turquoise card stock to create overlapping waves.  I used a couple of sand colored CS scraps, tearing each, and overlapped them for my beach.  I stamped the sentiment from ODBD's Wishing Well directly on the sand and then die cut a couple of flip flops using the Flip Flops Die.  I added a bit of baker's twine to create the thong straps.

So here are the items you see used on today's card...

Ink - Memento Dandelion, Canteloupe, Tuxedo Black
Card Stock - SU - Sahara Sand, Tempting Turquoise; Georgia Pacific - White

ODBD ~ Wishing Well ~

I love to color.  And with the popularity of adult coloring books, many other people must love to color too!  I don't have the time I once did to color images.  But when I do, look out!  I will be hunched over my desk for hours!  **and my back loves to tell me about it**

Today, I have an image to share from Our Daily Bread Designs' Wishing Well set.  I stamped the image on Copic compatible paper, colored it and used a few dies to frame it.

I started with a deep navy card stock base and trimmed the DP (Christian Faith Paper Collection) slightly smaller for my mat.  I also cut another panel, also slightly smaller with white card stock.  I used the Leafy Edged Borders Die to create a wave border and slightly offset the white panel to create an area for my die cut sentiment.  After coloring my image, I used the Circles Die to cut it out and used a soft blue ink and scalloped punch to create a cloudy sky.  I pulled out the coordinating Double Stitched Circles Die and created a mat layer with the dark navy paper.
I love using dies for my sentiment!  So fun!

Here are the items you see on today's project.

Merry Monday ~ The Perfect Mix of Warmth & Cheer ~

Baby, it's cold outside!  For those of us anywhere within a day's drive of the Atlantic Ocean...  OUCH!!!  I am so grateful we had the limited amount of snowfall we did.  Family in Baltimore didn't fare so well...  They had over 20 inches of the white stuff!  :-(
But I must say, a good snow brings out the creative beast in me!  Or was it the fact I hadn't had access to peanut butter chocolate ice cream for a few days???  :-)
Either way, my creative juices were flowing and with the ever present fear of the power going off...  a few creative juices flowing couldn't hurt the body temp, right?

Here's a fun one using a few Stampin' Up products from this past Christmas...

So I started with a simple black card stock base and cut a slightly smaller white CS panel.  I stamped my cardinal (three step process) and sentiment BEFORE using the snow themed embossing folder.
I chose the Joyful Season stamp set and stamped my outline with Basic Black ink, added the body with Real Red and a dab of Pumpkin Pie for the beak.  After placing and stamping the sentiment, I ran the panel through my Big Shot with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I intentionally stamped the cardinal a bit "off."  I really like the abstract feel to the image, particularly with the embossed snow!

Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings...

Merry Monday ~ Silent Night ~

Good morning and welcome to another Merry Monday!  I spent some time on a craft blog recently and found a very surprising conversation.  One participant was ripping her own creation apart because it didn't meet the standards of the contest she posted it too.

This got me thinking about how I am often SUPER critical of my own work...  worrying if it satisfies other crafters...  and then I decided to look up the definition of creative...

Here it is courtesy of the Oxford Dictionaries online site...

So the next time you are tempted to pick apart your own work...  remember your imagination is a good thing!

ODBD ~ Your Mercies ~ Bible Journaling

Good morning!  I must confess that Bible journaling makes me a tad bit nervous.  For some reason, I have a bit of a hang up about drawing in my Bible.  Granted, I purchased a journaling Bible for just said purpose but I'm afraid of making a ***GASP*** mistake...  Yes...  I said it out loud for everyone to hear.  For some reason I have no issues with highlighting scripture and making notes in my reading Bible...  strange...  I know!  So this week, I pulled out my new journaling stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs...New Mercies and created a scripture panel that I added with washi tape.  So I can move it and/or remove it!  Love this idea!  And this little lovely can transition over to the planner I shared in the release post!  FUN!

I stamped the image with Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copics.  I chose to softly sponge Summer Sky blue ink on the background to create sky.  I pulled off some washi tape and added it to the journaling column of my ESV Bible.

Here is the stamp image...

I love those Robin eggs!  I can't wait for spring!
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to pop back in Friday for ODBD's mid month look back!

Merry Monday

Good evening and welcome to my very first Merry Monday of the new year!  I couldn't wait...  and since I have already missed a few...  I decided to pop in a bit early...  My plan was to have a post featuring a new Christmas card each Monday...  hence the title Merry Monday.  But sometimes life gets in the way.  In this case a nasty respiratory bug took me down for several weeks.  So now that I have regained the use of BOTH lungs...  I can share a new card...

This card features some fun Stampin' Up products I added to my stash this fall and winter.  I started with a Real Red CS base (5.5 x 4.25 inches) and cut a slightly smaller white CS mat.  I embossed this panel with my SU Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I stamped the wreath (from SU's Wondrous Wreath stamp set) on white CS using Wild Wasabi Ink and Real Red for the berries.  Then I pulled out SU's Wonderful Wreath Framelits Dies to cut it out.  This same die set along with a bit of Real Red CS also created the beautiful word "Noel."  I added the wreath with dimensional foam and the word Noel with liquid glue.  Super easy and so cute!  So some of these items were in the Christmas catalog so I'm not sure if they are still available.

*******UPDATE******  the items listed on today's card are still available according to my SU consultant!  :-)

I think the design is fairly simple to copy with any stamp and/or die set!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy stamping and blessings to you and yours!

Welcome to another fun release at Our Daily Bread Designs.  We have so many items to share including journaling stamps plus more dies!  I can't wait to show you a couple of projects I created using these new items.  But before we get started, you need to know we are having a blog hop.  And as we do most months, today three randomly selected winners will each receive a $25 gift certificate to the ODBD Store!  It can be used toward the purchase of ODBD Stamps found in the "ODBD stamps column" of the website just for commenting on the Design Team cards!  You have until January 2, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. EST to leave your comments on the Designers Blogs for a chance to win!  The Winners will be posted on the ODBD Blog on January 3rd, so be sure to check back there to see if you won!

But first you have to see some of these new items.  And if journaling hasn't caught your fancy yet and/or you don't feel comfortable stamping in a Bible...  there are MANY more ways to use them!  Check out all of the designers today to get some great ideas on how you can incorporate journaling stamps into your stash!

So here is my first project using ODBD's new Wishing Words stamp set...

I started with a soft cream card stock base, trimming two coordinating papers from the Blushing Rose Paper Collection and covering the seam with an ecru die cut from the Beautiful Borders Die set.  I stamped the sentiment (from the NEW Wishing Words set) on cream card stock and used the NEW Circles Die to cut and emboss it.  I added a hand crafted blossom (Paper Posies Die) with greenery from the beloved Fancy Foliage Die.
Here are the new items you see...

 and some old favorites...

Now on to one of the new journaling stamps...
Each year I purchase a planner to keep all of my personal and work appointments straight.  I use a phone for this task as well but I still like to see things in "writing."  I usually purchase a planner which a reading plan for my Bible.  That way I am sure to read the entire Bible in a year...  I can mark off assigned readings as I go through the year...

So I decided to pull out my 2016 planner...  go to July 4th and stamp this gem...  The Nation...
I used washi tape to mark the day as well and colored my images with twistable crayons...  I also added a bit of glitter glue to the stars...

No boring planner for me!  lol

So here's the journaling stamp used on this project...

and don't forget to check out all of the designers to play along with our hop AND get some fabulous ideas for using these stamps!  They aren't JUST for journaling!!!!
