Word Art Wednesday 250 & 251

Good morning and welcome to a new bi-weekly challenge at Word Art Wednesday!  This week we have a wonderful digital image featuring scripture from Psalms.  To find the digi scripture featured and details of how you can play along in the #250-#251 challenge pop over to Word Art Wednesday for all the details.  But before you check it out, take a moment to look at the card I created using this week's featured digi!

I started with a white card stock base measuring 4.25 by 11 inches, folded and scored at 5.5 inches.  I cut a slightly smaller DP panel using The Paper Studio's The Shoppe on the Square Paper Pad.  I added a die cut overlay (Spellbinders' Grateful Lattice) in white CS using dimensional foam.  I used Our Daily Bread Designs' Pierced Rectangles Die to create a frame and their Small Bow Die for my vellum panel.  I printed the sentiment on vellum with my inkjet printer.  I chose the specialty paper function when printing and used a heat gun to insure the ink was set.  ODBD's Pierced Rectangles cut and framed the sentiment.  I just love the soft look of vellum, don't you?  Don't forget to hop over to the WAW site to play along and see what the other designers have created!

ODBD ~ Sweet and Smiling

Unfortunately, I love sweets!  If I could have a steak or a piece of cake...  I will choose cake!  Cookies, tarts, pie...  they all old their own allure.  But when I need to limit my caloric intake...  a cupcake is my go to treat.  There is something about that combo of icing and cake in a limited amount that satisfies the sweet craving.  So this time, I used the Beverage Cup Die to create my faux cupcake.  It even has sprinkles!

So here are a few of the items you see including a fun sentiment from the September release, Seasons Change...

and the Beverage Cup Die...

Plus a few old favorites...

Thanks for stopping by!  Please join me tomorrow for the Wednesday Word Art Challenge.  Plus later this week on October 1st, I have a few wonderful projects to share with new ODBD products.

~ Give Thanks, A Double Display Card ~

Today, I have a double display card to share using a pre-made card base from Our Daily Bread Designs' Fun & Fancy Folds Collection.  I also had the chance to use a couple of products from the September release including the A-MAIZE-ING stamp set and coordinating Indian Corn Die

I started by measuring each section of my card to cut my Kraft CS base and designer papers.  I chose a polka dotted design from ODBD's Ephemera Essentials Paper Pad and a fun print from ODBD's Vintage Ephemera Paper Collection.  I stamped the image (from the A-MAIZE-ING stamp set) on Copic compatible paper and after coloring, die cut it using the coordinating Indian Corn Die.  I created an oval die cut Kraft base using ODBD's Pierced Ovals Die and added my image with dimensional foam.  I stamped the sentiment with a rich dark ink on Kraft and cut one with ODBD's Stitched Circles Die and created a banner with the other.  I adhered both to the front so they will show when closed but still remain a part of the design when opened (as shown.)

So here are the new items you see...

A Look Back at Our Daily Bread Designs' September Release

Today we are taking a look back at Our Daily Bread Designs' September Release.  Here is the card I created using Seasons Change stamp set and coordinating Wheelbarrow Die.  I also incorporated the new Grass Hill Die and Grass Lawn Die.  For more inspiration using the September Release be sure to visit the ODBD Blog along with my design team sisters.

I started with a white card stock base measuring 5.5 x 8.5 inches, scored and folded at 4.25 inches.  I cute a slightly smaller grass green card stock mat and added another mat created with ODBD's Rustic Beauty Paper Collection.  I added layers of green card stock grass using the new Grass Hill Die and Grass Lawn Die.  I used ODBD's Fence Die along with white card stock to tuck in a bit of "fencing."  I stamped the image (from the new Seasons Change stamp set) with black Copic compatible ink on Neenah Solar Crest CS.  I colored the image with Copics (see listing later in the post...) and die cut it with the coordinating Wheelbarrow Die.  I stamped the sentiment on card stock and used ODBD's Ovals Die and Stitched Ovals Die for my layers.

So here are the new items you see...

MOJO465 ~ For You ~

Good morning!  Today I have a fun card to share with a decidedly fall feel.  I also took a few moments to play along with one of weekly challenges I love to do...  MOJO Monday!

And to make it even more fun, I worked in some fall plaid plus a fun sweater print DP!  I'm not wild about the cooler weather AND winter that inevitably follows!  But I sure do love the textures and textiles of the season!

and the sketch it is based on...MOJO465...

So I started with a black card stock base (4.25 x 5.5 inches).  I added a slightly smaller plaid print from Jen Hadfield's Warm & Cozy Paper Collection.  I added a couple of coordinating panels (also matted in black) stamping my sentiment on the lower right hand side.  I created the tree using Stampin' Up's Thoughtful Branches stamp set and Beautiful Branches Thinlits Dies.  A bit of baker's twine ties if all up.  And in the corner I added a black bird (envision a crow) heading off to search for fall goodies!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Don't forget to peek back in Friday as we take a look back at this month's release from Our Daily Bread Designs.  Blessings!

A Plea for Help, Without a Card...

Welcome Friday!  I do believe this has been the longest short week ever!  :-)  Normally, I have a card to share but today is a bit of an exception.  Don't worry, I will be back tomorrow with another project to share.  In the meantime, I have a special request.  One of my favorite things in the world, other than making cards, is visiting Covered Bridges.  Kentucky is blessed to have 13 of the "timbered tunnels" still remaining.  A few weeks ago, USA Today posted a Reader's Favorite Challenge.  And this challenge included covered bridges.  There is only one listed from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and ironically that bridge is probably one of the most recognizable.  It is particularly special to me since it is located in Fleming County, where I grew up.  So now to the favor.  In a little over 2 weeks the votes will be tallied for America's favorite Covered Bridge.  It is my sincere hope it will be my beloved Goddard.  So if you would be so kind, would you be willing to help our small part of the world potentially get some national recognition?  You can vote each and every day!  And if not, I hope you take a few moments to visit a timbered tunnel near you!

Here is my poor attempt at capturing the charm of Goddard Bridge....

Here is a LINK from our local paper the Maysville Ledger Independent about the contest....

VIDEO so you can conduct your own virtual visit...  They say it is one of the most photographed Covered Bridges in America because of the view through the bridge of the church....

And a direct LINK to the USA Today Contest...  IT IS - Goddard Covered Bridge near Flemingsburg, KY....

And a search of images turns up a plethora of PHOTOS...  Check it out!

And thank you!

~ How Have You Bean? ~

Good morning and Happy Thursday!  It hard to believe that Labor Day has come and gone!  I still have a crazy number of home projects that need to get done!  And as the days get shorter and Fall marches on, I find myself making lists.  A list of things that need attention...  a list of things that I can put off until spring...  a list of things I can't put off until spring...  And it makes me kind of crazy!!!  But what calms the savage beast!  A nice cup of Joe...  and this card featuring the new Our Daily Bread Designs' I Love Coffee stamp set celebrates the love of Java!

SO we started with an ecru card stock base measuring 4.25 x 11 inches, scored and folded at 5.5 inches.  I added a 4.25 x 5.5 inch rich cocoa DP found in ODBD's Ephemera Essentials Paper Pad.  I chose a fun cocoa plaid (also in this Paper Pad set) and cut it with ODBD's Leafy Edged Borders Die.  I used a coordinating lace die from this set along with ecru card stock to create the under layer.  I just love this beverage cup, wrap and straw all created with the NEW Beverage Cup Die.  I opted to stamp the sentiment from this set with a rich read die, using a bit of tape to mask the coffee bean before adding a bit of cocoa ink with a marker and stamping.  I cut the panel out to create this fun banner.  A bit of baker's twine and button finish it off.  And did you notice the cut die cut cherry (also in the Beverage Cup Die set?  I added a bit of Glossy Accents to give it that lovely maraschino cherry look!

So here are the new items you see used on this project...

 and a few old favorites...

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Until next time...

Blessings...
